This bronze bust of my mother, Sheila May Lloyd (nee Foster), took 18 months to complete.
This work was a way of giving permanence to a person who was so essential, and yet sadly transient in my life.
She was a great beauty, but a pretty sculpture was not the intention.
I wanted to etch movement and life into hard metal.
I wanted to make material a person who was more myth than solid memory.
